Uncountable Nouns

Uncountable Nouns:  Uncountable nouns cannot be counted. These nouns express feelings, emotions, concepts, substances or material.

1. You can use uncountable nouns on their own in general statements:

  • I dont like cheese.
  • Its easier to give advice than to take it.
  • 2. They can be used with some in a specific situation:

  • There s some cheese in the fridge.
  • Let me give you some advice.
  • 3. They can be used with the when it is clear what you are referring to:

  • Put the cheese back in the fridge.
  • The advice Jack gave me was very useful.
